UPFA fields 3 women for a slate of 20 in Gampaha district
The nomination lists are firming up one by one. The percentage representation in nomination in Gampaha is 15%. It is a good start. Will other districts follow?
Of the 3 women nominated, Anjan Umma (JHU) and was a members in the dissolved parliament and Mrs. Fernadpulle is the widow of a late minister. The interesting new face is that of Kokila Gunawardena, a current provincial council member. Kokila has been a strong supporter of women’s representation and the values we expect in our representatives. We wish her well.
